Republican Governor: Perilous for Social and Economic Justice

The Daily Kos has done such a brilliant job demonstrating for its readers how unbridled greed and self interest deny social and economic justice it is not surprising the Lee Atwater's of the 21st century are running advertising for the Republican running for governor in Massachusetts on the DK website.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has stated with greater specificity why Massachusetts should not elect a Republican governor: Effective response to climate change necessitates dealing with Citizens United.

But can there be any doubt she was talking about predatory capitalism?

Charlie Baker's colleagues and clients of choice are banks, venture capital, big health care and insurance companies.

He believes businessmen like him should be running our hospitals and schools -- not medical professionals or educators.

Deinstitutionalism, community based services, special education, homelessness, public assistance, juvenile justice, worker's rights et cetera

Are the examples that immediately come to mind of ways Massachusetts once set the bar for civil society but does so no longer.

They are also the domains most grievously gutted by the heart and soul of the Weld administration -- Charlie Baker.

I hope the gubernatorial candidates from other states being actively supported by the DK kick the asses of the scary clowns they oppose -- but good.

But social and economic justice is in serious decline in Massachusetts. And Gay marriage is a potent example decency, fairness and justice require embodiment in law in a nation of laws to take hold, be upheld and become the rule.
Progressives blood should run cold at the thought of Charlie Baker who has been blowing the Republican dog whistle on welfare fraud redefining public welfare and assistance, pensions and collective bargaining.
Democrats should be ashamed for the ambivalence of their support for Martha Coakley who as the Massachusetts Attorney General:

Has recovered 100s of millions of dollars from the Banks, Big Health Care and other real public welfare cheats.

Martha Coakley has proven not just that she is tough and smart enough -- but popular with the voters by after winning the primary without her party's endorsement.
